Latvia registers 32 people named Ronaldo and 16 named Lionel

Latvia’s Population Register contains 16 individuals named Lionel, 32 named Ronaldo, and several other football star names.

In Latvia, 16 people have Lionel as one of their given names – for 15 it is the first or only name, and for one it is the third. The name Mikels appears for 13 people: 11 as first or only name, and two as a second name.

The data was released ahead of the World Cup final between Argentina and Spain, whose top scorers are Lionel Messi and Mikel Oyarzabal, respectively.

Other football-inspired names in the register include one Lamine Yamal, eight Kiliani, 32 Ronaldo, and two Erlingi.
