Latvia to host the 2030 BMX Cycling World Championships
Latvia has been awarded the right to host the 2030 UCI BMX Cycling World Championships, becoming the first Baltic country to hold a UCI world championship. The event will take place in Valmiera.
The Latvian Cycling Federation (LRF) has announced that Latvia has secured the right to host the 2030 BMX Cycling World Championships. Denmark and Saudi Arabia had also bid to host the event, but the selection went in Latvia's favor.
With this decision, Latvia becomes the first Baltic country ever to host a world championship organized by the International Cycling Union (UCI). The competition is planned to take place in Valmiera, a city that has previously hosted the European BMX Cycling Championship.
Additional success in road cycling
At the same UCI congress, held in Montreal alongside the road cycling world championships, Latvia was also granted the right to host one of the 2027 Road Cycling World Cup stages for juniors. Latvia will host one of four stages planned for Europe.
Both decisions highlight Latvia's growing role in organizing international cycling competitions, as well as Valmiera's strengthening status as a significant venue for BMX sporting events.
