Latvia launches AI factory antenna hub AIFA-LAT

Latvia has launched an artificial intelligence factory antenna called AIFA-LAT. The project's representative, Katrīna Peipiņa, announced the launch.

The initiative aims to give Latvian startups, researchers and public sector institutions access to powerful computing infrastructure needed for developing and researching artificial intelligence solutions. The project plans to provide nearly five million hours of high-performance computing time.

Who will benefit

The computing resources will be available to three main groups: technology startups, academic and research institutions, and public sector organizations. Such resources allow for complex calculations and model training that would otherwise be difficult or costly to carry out without access to specialized infrastructure.

AIFA-LAT is described as an artificial intelligence factory antenna, indicating its connection to a broader European-scale initiative to build AI infrastructure, under which member states are establishing regional computing hubs.
