Today marks World Cleanup Day, an environmental initiative taking place across various continents around the world, including in Latvia. The information was shared by Aiva Rozenberga, a representative of the "Lielā talka" (Big Cleanup) association.

A global movement

World Cleanup Day has been held annually since 2018, and over the years it has brought together more than 139 million people across the globe. The initiative aims to mobilize people worldwide on a single day to jointly clean up their surroundings and draw attention to issues of waste and pollution.

Latvia's participation

Latvia is one of the countries taking part in this international movement, joining through the local "Lielā talka" organization. As a result, the involvement of Latvian residents in today's cleanup activities forms part of a broader global effort, with similar events happening simultaneously in many places around the world.
