“Development of Latvia” Submits Candidate List and Program; Nominates Ijabs for Prime Minister
The political party “Development of Latvia” (LA) has submitted its list of candidates for the 15th Saeima elections and its political program to the Central Election Commission. The party has nominated MEP Ivars Ijabs as its candidate for Prime Minister, although Ijabs himself is not running for Parliament.

The political force “Development of Latvia” (LA) has officially handed over its candidate list for the 15th Saeima elections to the Central Election Commission (CEC). Along with the candidate list, the party also submitted its political program, outlining priorities for the next term.
As its candidate for the post of Prime Minister, LA has nominated current Member of the European Parliament Ivars Ijabs. However, Ijabs himself is not standing for election to the Saeima – he is being proposed by the party to lead the government should LA form a coalition after the elections.
The party explains this move as an effort to offer the public an experienced and internationally recognized politician capable of heading the government. LA’s program emphasizes the protection of fundamental rights and the development of Latvia.
