Latvijas Avīze offers drivers a quiz on everyday situations behind the wheel
The Latvian daily Latvijas Avīze has published a ten-question quiz for drivers covering practical knowledge about tyres, fuel and non-standard situations. The first question asks when passenger cars in Latvia must have winter tyres.

The Latvian newspaper Latvijas Avīze has published an interactive quiz for drivers on its website. It tests how well people handle everyday situations behind the wheel, rather than simply whether they hold a licence. The quiz has ten questions. It is aimed at those who have already passed the exam at CSDD (the Road Traffic Safety Directorate) and received a driving licence.
What the questions cover
The publication says that a driver's real life begins when a person is left alone with their own car. The questions therefore deal with practical matters: not getting confused at the fuel pump, not making mistakes with tyres, and knowing what to do in non-standard situations. The authors note that merely having a licence will not help much in this quiz.
The first question
At the start, participants must say during which period passenger cars in Latvia are required to be fitted with winter tyres. Three answers are offered: from 1 November to 1 April, from 1 December to 1 March, or from 1 December to 1 April. The published excerpt does not give the correct answer, and the content of the other nine questions is not visible in it.
The quiz is available in the "Tests" section of the Latvijas Avīze website. Readers can start it whenever they are ready, and it is presented as a light way to check their knowledge.
