Latvia basketball team squanders 13-point lead, loses to Slovenia in friendly
Latvia's men's national basketball team lost 86:89 to Slovenia in an away friendly in Ljubljana, despite having built up a 13-point lead during the game. Team captain Rihards Lomažs led the Latvian scorers.

The Latvian men's national basketball team has played the first of two scheduled friendly matches ahead of upcoming World Cup qualifying games later in August. In an away game in Ljubljana, Latvia lost 86:89 to the host Slovenian national team.
During the game, the Latvians managed to build a lead of as much as 13 points, but were ultimately unable to hold on to that advantage, and the home side secured the win.
Team captain Rihards Lomažs was the top scorer for Latvia, finishing with 20 points and adding nine assists.
This was the first of two planned preparation games as the Latvian national team gets ready for its upcoming World Cup qualification matches.
