Latvian basketball team secures crucial win in the Netherlands

Latvia's national basketball team played their first game of the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifying tournament on Sunday in Almere, facing the Netherlands. Despite a lackluster performance and poor stretches of play, the Latvian side managed to grind out a 72:69 victory.

Coached by Janis Gailitis, the team secured a vital win in their quest to reach the World Cup. Their next match is scheduled for July 6 in Riga against Austria.
