Latvian Point Guard Jakovičs Extends Contract with Spanish Club Palencia for Two Seasons
Latvian veteran point guard Ingus Jakovičs has signed a two-year extension with Palencia after averaging 11.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 3 assists in 43 games last season.

Ingus Jakovičs, the experienced Latvian point guard, has extended his contract with Spanish basketball club Palencia for two more seasons. In his first season with the team, Jakovičs played 43 games, averaging 11.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 3 assists per game while shooting 37.4% from three-point range. At the end of the season, Palencia lost the battle for promotion to the ACB League for the upcoming season.
With the new deal, Jakovičs will play his sixth consecutive season in Spain. Previously, from 2022 to 2025, he represented Leyma Coruna, with whom he also played in the ACB League. Throughout his career, the Cesvaine native has played for Latvian clubs Liepāja, VEF Rīga, Ventspils, and Valmiera Glass/ViA, as well as Italian side Varese, Ukraine's Budivelnyk, Russia's Nizhny Novgorod, and French team Limoges.
