Latvia's mission in the UN Security Council: counter Russian disinformation and boost support for Ukraine
For half a year, Latvia has been a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, and its primary task is to curb Russian lies and propaganda while convincing more countries to support Ukraine.
Latvia has served as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for six months. During this period, Latvian diplomats are focusing on two main goals: limiting the spread of Russian disinformation and propaganda, and attracting additional nations to support Ukraine.
According to officials, Russian disinformation poses a serious threat to international security, so Latvia is actively working to expose and counter its influence. At the same time, efforts are underway to expand the international coalition backing Ukraine in its fight against aggression.
These tasks are top priorities in Latvia's work at the Security Council, and diplomats hope to achieve tangible results during the remainder of its term.
