Latvia's national football team drops six places in FIFA ranking
After poor results in the UEFA Nations League, Latvia has slipped six positions in the latest FIFA ranking. Estonia and Lithuania both improved their standings.

Latvia's national football team has fallen six places in the newest FIFA world ranking. The change reflects results achieved since the previous ranking was released in July.
Nations League results
During that period, Latvia played four matches in League C of the UEFA Nations League. Three ended in defeat: 0-2 against Armenia, 1-2 against Cyprus and 1-2 against Montenegro. One game, against Cyprus, finished as a goalless 0-0 draw.
Neighbouring countries
Estonia's team has climbed five places and now sits 122nd. Lithuania moved up one position and is 148th.
In the European ranking, Latvia is 48th. It is ahead of Lithuania, Moldova, Malta, Andorra, Gibraltar, Liechtenstein and San Marino.

Latvia's best placing in the FIFA ranking is 45th, reached in 2009. Its lowest position was 148th, recorded in 2017.
The world's best
The top of the table is unchanged: World Cup winner Spain remains first, followed by Argentina. France is still third and England keeps fourth place. Portugal has risen from seventh to fifth, overtaking Brazil and Morocco. Belgium remains eighth and the Netherlands ninth, while Mexico completes the top ten.
