Latvian football clubs secure two victories in European competitions
FK Liepāja and RFS started their UEFA Conference League qualifying campaigns with wins against Montenegrin and Northern Irish opponents respectively.

Latvia's leading football clubs, FK Liepāja and RFS, have made a successful start to their participation in the UEFA Conference League, Europe's third-tier club competition. In the first leg of the first qualifying round, both teams emerged victorious.
RFS defeated Northern Irish side Glentoran 2-1 away in Belfast. Meanwhile, Liepāja beat Montenegrin club Dečić 1-0 at home, despite playing with ten men for most of the match.
The return legs are scheduled for next week. These results are a positive sign for Latvian football, as strong performances in European tournaments boost the country's coefficient and improve future seeding opportunities.
