Latvia's footballers suffer another Nations League defeat in Cyprus
Latvia's national football team lost 1:2 away to Cyprus in the Nations League, squandering a lead in the final minutes. It was the side's third defeat in four tournament matches.

Latvia's national football team has suffered another setback in the Nations League, losing 1:2 away to Cyprus. This marks the third defeat in the team's last four matches in the tournament.
The match initially looked promising for the visitors. After a goal from Eduards Daškevičs, Paolo Nicolato's side held a 1:0 lead for a long stretch of the game, maintaining their advantage all the way until the 70th minute.
Lead lost in stoppage time
The most painful moment of the match came right at the end, as Cyprus first equalized and then scored the decisive winning goal in time added on by the referee, turning Latvia's lead into a defeat. The result is seen as especially frustrating given that Latvia had controlled much of the second half.
The loss in Cyprus continues a difficult run for the Latvian national team, which has now lost three of its four matches so far in this edition of the tournament. The next Nations League fixtures are scheduled for mid-November, giving the team a chance to try to improve its standing.
