Following a Russian attack on Friday, July 24, which destroyed the building of Latvia's honorary consulate in Sloviansk, Donetsk region, Honorary Consul Oleksandr Pavenko stated that despite the incident, they are not giving up and continue their work.

In an interview with LTV, Pavenko noted that there are many people in Latvia who remember and support them. He stressed that this support is very important and helps maintain motivation for future work. The consul thanked everyone who sympathized and stands with them during this difficult time.

The attack caused significant damage to the consulate building, but precise information about casualties or injuries has not yet been published. Pavenko confirmed that consulate staff are safe and continue to perform their duties.

This incident is another example of Russian aggression in Ukraine, affecting the work of international diplomatic missions. Latvia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has previously condemned the attack and called on Russia to respect international law.
