Latvia's economy continued to expand in the first half of 2026, with gross domestic product (GDP) rising 2.8% compared with the corresponding period of 2025, according to figures released by the Central Statistical Bureau.

Second-quarter growth even stronger

Looking at the second quarter alone, growth was even more pronounced. Based on seasonally and calendar unadjusted data, GDP increased by 3% year-on-year in that quarter.

The Central Statistical Bureau published the figures as part of its regular assessment of the country's economic performance. The data indicate that growth did not slow in the second quarter but instead picked up slightly compared with the pace seen earlier in the year.
