Latvia national team prospect Cirkins makes debut for new club

QPR midfielder Roberts Cirkins made his first appearance for his new club, coming off the bench in a goalless draw against newly-promoted Bolton. QPR sit fourth in the Championship after two rounds.

English Championship side QPR played out a 0:0 draw at home against newly-promoted Bolton in their second match of the new season. The game marked the first appearance for the club of Roberts Cirkins, a player being watched by the Latvian national team.

Cirkins started the match on the bench and was brought on in the 62nd minute. In his time on the pitch he made one successful tackle, blocked a shot, and won four individual duels against opponents.

Match course

QPR were the dominant side over the course of the game, registering 17 shots in total, nine of which were on target. Bolton managed only two shots, neither of which was considered dangerous.

Despite their control of the match, QPR were unable to find a goal, and the contest ended level.

Standings

After two matches of the new season, QPR have one win and four points, placing them fourth in the table. Last season, in a 24-team competition, the club finished in 15th place.
