Latvian skydivers miss national free fly record bid for now
A team of Latvian skydivers did not manage to set the planned national record in the "free fly" discipline in early October because of weather. The skydivers say they are ready and hope to achieve the goal next spring.

A team of Latvian skydivers failed to set the planned Latvian record in the "free fly" skydiving discipline in early October. In free fly, athletes reach speeds of around 300 km/h in free fall. The attempt had been intended as a historic achievement for Latvian skydiving.
The jump was originally planned for September, but the attempt had to be postponed because of unfavourable weather. At the start of October, the weather again forced changes to the plans, and the record could not be reached this time.
The team nevertheless considers the attempt useful, saying it confirmed the skydivers' readiness. They hope to achieve the historic goal as early as next spring.
