Latvian CX Cycling Cross Cup to feature four stages, opening in Mārupe

The Latvian Cycling Federation is organizing the national CX cyclocross cup for a second season running, again structured around four stages. Alongside the familiar venues of Salaspils and Smiltene, this year's series introduces two new locations: Mārupe and Ozolnieki. A national championship round will also take place, though its results will not count toward the overall cup standings.

While the federation coordinates the series as a whole, local cycling organizations handle the direct running of each stage. Riders in most age categories are required to compete on bicycles meeting CX regulations.

Changes to category structure

This season introduces two Masters CX groups for men and one for women. Mandatory CX bike requirements will now also apply to the M/W16 category, while the Open group is being expanded to include younger athletes, who will still be permitted to race without a dedicated CX bicycle. Overall standings will be calculated from riders' three best results across the four stages. Racing licenses (road, MTB or BMX) will be mandatory for all categories except M/W12 and Open.

Season opens in Mārupe

The season begins on September 26 with racing in Mārupe, at the Tīraine BMX track. Alongside the cup's regular categories, an M/W10 group race will also be held there, though its results will not be counted toward the overall standings.

Registration for all stages is available through the newly launched CX Latvija platform, which provides information on each stage, course maps and results.

The season schedule: September 26 – Mārupe, October 4 – Salaspils, October 25 – Smiltene, October 31 – Ozolnieki, with the national championship following on November 7 in Dobele.
