Dainis Upelnieks wins Latvian Cup in skeet shooting; “Iecava District Zirnieki” take team title
At the Latvian Cup final round in clay target shooting held in Riga, Dainis Upelnieks topped the overall skeet standings while the team “Iecava District Zirnieki” claimed the title. In trap shooting, Kārlis Jurgenovskis won the cup.

The final round of the Latvian Cup in clay target shooting took place in Riga on August 29-30, determining the season's best athletes across several disciplines and age groups, as well as Hunters' League participants, according to the Latvian Shooting Federation.
Skeet
Dainis Upelnieks won the overall Latvian Cup title in skeet, having accumulated 100 points from his two best season rounds and adding 48 more in the final, finishing with 148 points. Ričards Zorovs took second with 101 points, while Valdis Kalējs placed third with 91. Santa Upelniece finished fourth overall with 84 points.
In the youth category, Ričards Zorovs won, while Santa Upelniece was named the best among women.
In the team standings, “Iecava District Zirnieki” dominated with 100 points, ahead of Jelgava (33 points) and Mērsrags-Talsi (28 points). Dainis Upelnieks and Santa Upelniece represented the Iecava team in the final round.
Trap
Competition for the Latvian Cup in trap shooting was especially tight. Kārlis Jurgenovskis claimed the title with 124 points, edging out Raitis Onužāns by just two points (122). Atis Vēveris took third with 119 points, despite posting the best result in the final round itself.
In the youth category, Kārlis Jurgenovskis won, while Ance Ziemele was the top performer among women.
In the team event, Aizkraukle triumphed with 93 points, ahead of Saldus (79 points) and Kuldīga (30 points).
Hunters' League
Hunters' League participants competed separately. In skeet, Uģis Strazds and Dainis Šteinhards led the standings, while in trap, Intars Jurģis won the cup.
The final round concluded the 2026 clay target shooting cup season, in which results from multiple rounds throughout the year formed the basis for the final standings.
