Upelnieks and Jurgenovskis claim Latvia's clay target shooting cups
The final round of Latvia's 2026 clay target shooting cup took place in Riga, with Dainis Upelnieks winning the overall skeet title and Kārlis Jurgenovskis the trap title. Winners were also determined in youth, women's, team and Hunters' League categories.

Riga hosted the final round of Latvia's 2026 clay target shooting cup, covering both skeet and trap disciplines. The event closed out a season in which athletes accumulated points across several rounds, with the final stage deciding the overall champions.
Skeet
Dainis Upelnieks won the overall title, having gathered 100 points from his two best rounds during the season and adding 48 more in the final, finishing with 148 points. Ričards Zorovs took second place with 101 points, while Valdis Kalējs finished third with 91. In the youth category, Zorovs won with 68 points, and Santa Upelniece topped the women's standings. In the team competition, “Iecavas novada Zirnieki” dominated with 100 points, ahead of Jelgava and Mērsrags-Talsi.
Trap
The trap competition saw a tighter battle for the cup. Kārlis Jurgenovskis won with 124 points, edging out Raitis Onužāns by just two points, with 122. Atis Vēveris took third with 119 points. Jurgenovskis also won the youth category, while Ance Ziemele topped the women's standings. In the team event, Aizkraukle claimed the cup, followed by Saldus and Kuldīga.
Hunters' League
Hunters' League participants competed separately for the Latvian cup. In skeet, Uģis Strazds and Dainis Šteinhards shared the lead with 50 points each. In trap, Intars Jurģis won with 75 points. In the final round, Jurģis hit all 60 targets across three trap series, while Strazds posted the best skeet result of the final with 62 hits.
