Latvia's women's curling team to play final warm-up event in Prague before European Championship

Latvia's women's curling team, skipped by Evelīna Barone, will take part in the "WCT Prague Ladies International 2026" in the Czech capital Prague from 15 to 18 October. It is the squad's last preparatory event before the European curling championship. Thirteen teams are competing for the title.

Tournament format

The teams are split into two groups, one with seven and the other with six. Each team plays four drawn opponents in its group. The top two from each group advance to the semi-finals, which decide the finalists.

Previous event and opponents

Last weekend several teams, Latvia among them, competed at the "Tallinn Ladies Challenger 2026", where the Latvians finished fourth. The Tallinn winner was the Swiss rink of Zoja Švallere (world ranking #78), which is also among the favourites in Prague.

Latvia opens against Czech player Michaela Baudišova (#94), a quarter-finalist in Tallinn. Games against teams from Poland, Switzerland and the Czech Republic follow; those teams do not yet have any world ranking points.

Line-up and schedule

The Latvian line-up is Evelīna Barone, Rēzija Ieviņa, Katrīna Gaidule and Daina Barone. The coach is David Ramsay.
