Latvian legionnaires: Strods features in eight-goal Dublin thriller, Šabala gets first assist of season
Latvian footballers abroad saw mixed fortunes this week, with Markuss Strods returning to action in Ireland's top flight and Valērijs Šabala recording his first assist of the season in Poland's second division.

Nineteen-year-old Latvia U21 midfielder Markuss Strods had been left out of the squad for the previous two matches, but featured this evening as Dublin's Bohemians turned a 0:1 deficit into a 3:1 win, scoring three times between the 47th and 52nd minutes. Strods has played 18 league matches this season, contributing two goals and four assists, while Bohemians have amassed 47 points after 28 rounds.
In the Dutch second-tier Keuken Kampioen Divisie, Dordrecht have taken one win, one draw and one loss in their last three games. Twenty-two-year-old forward Dario Šits featured in a 0:1 loss to Roda JC Kerkrade, his third consecutive full match — over the previous two rounds he had registered an assist, an accurate shot on goal and a booking.
