Latvia's motocross national team finishes fifth in Nations Cup qualifying

Latvia's national motocross team competed in Nations Cup qualifying in France on Saturday, finishing in fifth place.

The Latvian team was represented by three riders — Pauls Jonass, along with brothers Jānis Mārtiņš Reišulis and Kārlis Alberts Reišulis. Their combined performance secured the fifth position for the national team in the qualifying standings.

Nations Cup qualifying is a stage in which national teams compete for the chance to advance to the main Nations Cup event, widely regarded as one of the most prestigious team competitions in motocross. Each country is represented by several riders, and the team's overall result is determined by combining or ranking the individual performances of all participants during the event.

Motocross has traditionally been one of the most popular motorsport disciplines in Latvia, with national riders regularly taking part in international-level competitions, including World Championship rounds and team events. Pauls Jonass is a well-known figure in Latvian motocross who has previously competed in high-level international races, while the Reišulis brothers have increasingly become established members of the national team in recent years.

The competition took place in France, and the fifth-place finish in qualifying demonstrates the Latvian team's competitiveness on the international stage. The source report does not specify the results of other national teams or which squads secured the right to compete in the main Nations Cup event.

Overall, the result is seen as a positive step for Latvia's motocross national team in international team competition.
