Fourth round of Latvian motorcycle road racing championship held in Estonia
Latvian championship's fourth round at Porsche Ring in Estonia featured tight battles across all classes, with several Latvian riders reaching the podium. The next round is scheduled in Lithuania in mid-August.
Fourth round at Porsche Ring
On 1–2 August, the Porsche Ring circuit in Estonia hosted the fourth round of the Latvian motorcycle road racing championship. Riders in every class competed fiercely until the final laps.
In Supersport 300, Matīss Šķensbergs took second place, just three seconds behind the winner. Roberts Vinovskis finished fourth, while Niks Lukašuks crossed the line sixth, beating the seventh-place rider by 0.004 seconds. In the combined C1200 and C600 race, Aleksejs Porazenko claimed a convincing victory.
Superstock and B-class action
Lithuanian Jonas Stankūns won the combined Superstock 600 and B600 race, while Gints Apinis placed third. Kaspars Plečkens, competing in B600, finished fourth overall and first in his class, despite racing against more experienced Superstock 600 riders. His lap times showed he could keep pace with the fastest competitors.
The B1200 race was closely fought, with the leading three positions changing several times. Normunds Lojāns missed victory by less than a second. He said that after a month without riding, practice sessions helped him get back into rhythm, and qualifying showed at least five riders had podium ambitions. Although he started third, his pace allowed him to challenge for the win, but he chose not to take excessive risks in the final corners. Lojāns finished second and set the fastest race lap.
Superbike battle
In Superbike, four riders – two Estonians and two Latvians – formed the leading group, leaving the rest more than 20 seconds behind. Position changes were rare because the leaders were within one second of each other; overtaking was possible only if someone made a mistake. Ivo Vinniņš took third place, and his teammate Dāvis Briedis finished fourth. Vinniņš noted that such close racing is exciting for riders and spectators, but it also makes overtaking harder since everyone waits for an error.
The next championship round is scheduled for 15–16 August at the Nemuno Žiedas circuit in Lithuania.
