Riga Book Festival Opens at the National Library of Latvia
The annual Riga Book Festival is taking place on Friday and Saturday at the National Library of Latvia, featuring author meetings, a symposium and children's workshops. The programme also includes a book swap and autograph sessions.

The annual Riga Book Festival is being held this Friday and Saturday at the National Library of Latvia (LNB) in Riga. The event brings together book lovers, writers and publishers, with a programme covering literature and reading.
The festival opens on Friday at 11:00 with an official ceremony in the LNB Friends Hall. During the day, visitors can learn more about the history of books, how literature is created, and literary research. At 18:00, three foreign authors will discuss their paths to becoming writers in an event titled "How I (Didn't) Become a Writer". From 13:00 to 17:30, the Ziedonis Hall will host the international symposium "The Right to Read. Continuation".
Saturday's programme
Saturday is set aside for book launches, meetings with writers and discussions on the literature, languages and translation of various countries. Younger readers are also catered for: children and teenagers can join creative workshops, listen to readings, solve crosswords and try their hand at creating their own stories.
Both days
In the library's atrium, the living room of the "Time to Read" movement will operate on both days, where visitors can meet writers and book bloggers and get recommendations for their next read. A book swap point will also be available, where already-read books can be exchanged for others. At the publishers' stands, visitors can meet favourite authors and obtain their autographs.
