Latvian Para-Athletes Win 12 Medals at Baltic Championships

Latvian Para-Athletes Win 12 Medals at Baltic Championships

Latvian para-athletes claimed 12 medals at the Baltic Championships in athletics. Several Latvian competitors took part, achieving impressive results and setting multiple personal records.

Linda Meijere competed in the combined medical classes F31-34 and F51-57, winning first place in all disciplines: javelin throw (14.93 m), discus throw (17.53 m), and shot put (7.41 m). She set new personal bests in all three events.

Baiba Rorbaha, in the same class group, earned third place in shot put (3.04 m) and became Baltic champion in club throw (16.27 m).

In the men's competition, Emīls Dzilna, competing in the combined class group (F11-13, F20, F35-38, F40-41, F42-44, F45-46, F61-64), won gold in shot put with 16.38 m. Raivo Maksims, in the same group, took bronze in shot put (13.36 m) and silver in discus throw (41.06 m) with a personal best.

Ingus Labanovs, in classes F31-34 and F51-57, secured third place in shot put (10.85 m, personal best) and discus throw (35.26 m, personal best), and silver in javelin throw (34.94 m).

Gatis Niedra, in the same group, became Baltic champion in discus throw (30.45 m).

Alongside the competition, the Estonian Paralympic Committee organized classification courses for physiotherapists and ergotherapists, enabling them to determine the appropriate competition class for athletes.
