Latvian wheelchair basketball team heads to European Championship in Croatia

From June 26 to July 6, the European Men's Wheelchair Basketball Championship B Division is taking place in Zagreb, Croatia, with Latvia competing in Group A against Israel, Slovenia, Bulgaria, and Croatia.

The Latvian wheelchair basketball team has departed for Zagreb, Croatia, to participate in the European Men's Wheelchair Basketball Championship B Division, which runs from June 26 to July 6. The squad arrived early for final preparations before the tournament.

According to the draw, Latvia is placed in Group A alongside Israel, Slovenia, Bulgaria, and Croatia. The schedule in local Latvian time is as follows: June 29 at 12:15 PM against Slovenia, June 30 at 7:00 PM against Israel, July 2 at 2:30 PM against Bulgaria, and July 3 at 7:00 PM against Croatia.

President of the Latvian Wheelchair Basketball Sports Federation, Aigars Miklāvs, noted that the team has put in hard work during preparation at the new Team Sports Hall and completed three valuable training camps. He expressed gratitude to physiotherapist Ērika Baumane for ensuring the players are in peak physical condition. Miklāvs emphasized that self-confidence is high and the team is ready to fight for every inch of the court to achieve their goals. The main objective is to deliver their best performance, show character, and proudly represent Latvia in Europe.

The Latvian roster includes Raimonds Beginskis, Dmitrijs Rukavišņikovs, Ansis Bērziņš, Agris Lasmans, Ralfs Bundziņš, Kārlis Gabranovs, Elvis Urga, Gatis Veinbergs, and Kaspars Turks. The team is led by head coach Ali Ahmadi, with physiotherapist Ērika Baumane. Federation president Aigars Miklāvs and wheelchair mechanic Oskars Valainis also traveled with the team to Croatia.
