Today at the Daugava Stadium, the general meeting of the Latvian Rugby Federation (LRF) took place, resulting in significant leadership changes. Of the 22 LRF members, 12 attended the meeting—just over half—ensuring the quorum required for decision-making.

During the meeting, the current board announced its resignation in full, immediately paving the way for the election of a new president. Vladimir Steinbergs, who previously served as the head of the Latvian Council of Sports Federations (LCSF), was elected as the new president. Steinbergs is an experienced sports administrator, and his election signals a desire to stabilize the rugby federation following the board's resignation.

LRF representatives stated that the board's decision to step down was made to allow new leadership to implement necessary changes and improve the federation's operations. Steinbergs, in his remarks, expressed plans to focus on promoting rugby in Latvia and strengthening cooperation with international organizations.

These changes mark a significant step for Latvian rugby, as the federation has faced several challenges in recent years, including financial difficulties and organizational issues. The new leadership aims to restore trust and foster the growth of the sport across the country.
