Latvian kayak duo Akmens and Vilde finish 15th at world championships

At the canoe sprint world championships, the Latvian duo placed sixth in the B final, securing 15th overall, while Danilo Mičuda improved his overall standing in the 500m event.

At the ICF canoe sprint world championships, Latvian kayakers Akmens and Vilde competed in the B final, which decided places six through ten overall. The pair completed their race in one minute and 33.14 seconds, finishing sixth among the B final competitors.

The fastest time in the B final belonged to Australia's Pierre and Jean van der Westhuizen, who beat the Latvian duo by 1.38 seconds. Based on their B final result, the Latvian pair ended up in 15th place in the overall standings.

Mičuda takes 24th

Latvia was also represented by Danilo Mičuda, who competed in the 500-meter event. He raced in the C final, which determined places 20 through 24 overall. Mičuda finished his race in one minute and 44.22 seconds, placing fifth in that heat but 24th in the overall championship standings.

The canoe and kayak sprint world championships will continue for one more day, concluding on Sunday.
