Latvia's U-20 women's basketball team defeated Iceland 85-80 on Sunday in Alytus, securing 11th place in the European Junior Championship.

Latvia's U-20 women's basketball team defeated Iceland 85-80 (23:22, 18:16, 24:17, 20:25) on Sunday in Alytus in the match for 11th place at the European Junior Championship, finishing the tournament in 11th position.
Estere Petrus led Latvia with 26 points and six rebounds. Madara Šmite added 13 points and five steals, while Anna Liepiņa contributed ten points. For Iceland, Hulda Agnarsdóttir scored 22 points.
In Group B, Latvia won all three games: against Sweden (70:63), Germany (70:60), and Hungary (78:64), finishing first. In the qualification round for the quarterfinals, Latvia lost to Croatia 84:97. In the placement matches for 9th-16th, they first defeated Italy 75:61, then lost to Hungary 60:79 in the semi-final for ninth place.
Iceland's group stage included a win over Serbia (78:74), a loss to Poland (67:86), and a win over Italy (86:79). In the round of 16, they lost to Turkey 62:84, then beat Sweden 86:61 and lost to Germany 74:85.
In preparation for the championship, Latvia played several friendlies: two losses to Poland (60:64 and 74:76), a split with Lithuania (74:77 loss, 76:74 win), two wins over Ukraine (64:54 and 82:77), and two losses to Spain (57:80 and 51:66).
The bottom three teams in the tournament will be relegated from Division A.
