Latvia U-20 women's basketball team beats Germany, secures second win at European Championship
The Latvian U-20 women's basketball team defeated Germany 70:60 on Sunday in Klaipėda, earning their second victory in the tournament. Anna Liepiņa led the team with 15 points.

Second Victory in the Tournament
The Latvian U-20 women's basketball team secured their second win at the European Junior Championship on Sunday in Klaipėda, beating Germany 70:60 (24:10, 17:20, 13:17, 16:13).
Anna Liepiņa was the top scorer for Latvia with 15 points and four rebounds. Madara Šmite contributed 14 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, and three steals, while Evelīna Otto added 13 points, ten rebounds, and two blocks. Estere Petrus scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds. For Germany, Jana Koch netted 13 points.
Group Stage Progress
In Group B, Latvia now has two wins, while Germany and Hungary each have one win, and Sweden has two losses. On Saturday, Latvia defeated Sweden 70:63, and Germany beat Hungary 64:50. On Tuesday at 20:30, Latvia will face Hungary. In the round of 16 on Wednesday, Latvia will play against a team from Group A – Israel, Lithuania, Croatia, or Spain.
Preparations for the Championship
Before the championship, Latvia played several friendly games: they lost twice to Poland's U-20 team (60:64 and 74:76), then faced Lithuania at home (74:77 and 76:74), and twice beat Ukraine's peers (64:54 and 82:77). In their final warm-up matches, Latvia lost to Spain 57:80 and 51:66.
The U-20 European Championship concludes on Sunday. The three last-placed teams will be relegated from Division A.
