Latvia U-20 women's basketball team loses in Round of 16, will play for 9th place
Latvia's U-20 women's basketball team lost to Croatia 84:97 in the Euro U-20 Championship Round of 16 on Wednesday and will now compete for ninth place.

The Latvia women's U-20 basketball team faced Croatia in the knockout stage of the European Junior Championship in Klaipėda on Wednesday, July 8. The Latvians were defeated 84:97 (22:26, 17:30, 25:12, 20:29), meaning they will now fight for the ninth position instead of advancing to the quarterfinals.
Croatia took an early lead, ending the first quarter ahead by four points (26:22). They extended their advantage in the second period, going into halftime with a 56:39 lead. Latvia showed better performance in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 11 points (64:75), but Croatia regained control in the final quarter and sealed the victory 97:84.
The Latvian team will now move to the classification bracket for places 9 through 16, first aiming for a chance at ninth place. While not the desired outcome, the squad hopes to finish the tournament on a positive note. Croatia advances to the quarterfinals and continues its medal quest.
