The squad includes Valdis Kalniņš, who is already known from appearances with the senior national team. He recently found a new job in Norway, from where he returned home ahead of the tournament.
In an interview with Latvian Television, Kalniņš revealed that the team's main goal is to secure a spot at the 2027 World Championship. The young handball players are aware of the competition but are determined to achieve this aim. Kalniņš emphasized that the team is not one to give up, even against strong opponents.
