Latvia's U-23 women's 3x3 basketball team finished the World Cup without a medal after losing the bronze medal match 14:22 to Spain, which claimed third place.
The Latvian squad featured Enija Ķīvīte, Marta Leimane, Ieva Korzāne and Adelīna Urtāne. Latvia entered the women's tournament seeded sixth. In the bronze medal game, Leimane and Ķīvīte were the top scorers for Latvia with six points each, while Urtāne added two more.
Path to the bronze medal game
Before the bronze medal loss, Latvia beat eighth-seeded France 21:15 in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals. However, the Latvian team then lost 8:21 to Canada, seeded 18th, in the semifinal, sending them into the bronze medal match instead of the final.
Men's team reaches the final
On the same day, at 3:55 PM, Latvia's men's U-23 3x3 basketball team was set to face Lithuania in the final. Both the women's and men's tournaments featured 20 national teams each, divided into four groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarterfinals.
Latvia's U-23 national teams have won a medal at the U-23 World Cup only once before — at the inaugural tournament in 2018, when the men's team took silver. Last year, Lithuania's players became the men's champions, while the Netherlands' team won the women's title.
