Latvian companies to gain access to German chamber of commerce network in over 90 countries
LIAA, Germany's DIHK and the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce signed a memorandum giving Latvian companies access to AHK services at 150 locations in more than 90 countries. The agreement was signed in Berlin during a Latvian trade mission.
The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA), the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) and the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce (AHK) signed a memorandum of understanding in Berlin on Wednesday, September 16, aimed at supporting Latvian companies' export growth. The document was signed at the Latvian stand of the international "Big Bang AI Festival," with Economy Minister Viktors Valainis and a delegation of Latvian entrepreneurs in attendance.
Under the memorandum, Latvian companies will be able to use the German foreign trade chamber network's services at 150 locations in more than 90 countries, under the same conditions as German companies. Available services include market and product consultations, information on potential partners, and legal and procurement advice, though these will be offered for a fee according to each chamber's price list.
Joint contact point and annual events
The German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce will set up a dedicated contact point for Latvian exporters, connecting companies with AHK representative offices in markets of interest. LIAA, together with AHK, will each year select two countries and two sectors to particularly promote for export, and will organize one to two related events annually. The memorandum runs for one year with automatic renewal.
With this agreement, all three Baltic states — Estonia, Lithuania and now Latvia — are part of a shared cooperation model with the German chamber network.
Germany remains Latvia's top export market
Germany is Latvia's largest export market outside the Baltics. Since 2020, Latvian exports to Germany have grown by more than 40%, reaching roughly €2.1 billion in 2025 — more than Latvia's combined exports to the US, France and China. In the first half of 2026, exports to Germany rose by 11%. More than 1,000 companies with German capital operate in Latvia.
