Latvian company "Balticovo" plans 180 million euro investment in Lithuania
Latvian egg producer "Balticovo" plans to invest 180 million euros in a poultry complex in the Vilkaviškis district through its Lithuanian subsidiary "Lit Egg". The investment acceleration was discussed with Lithuania's prime minister and agricultural sector representatives.
Gytis Kauzonas, head of the Lithuanian Poultry Association, announced that Latvian company "Balticovo", which owns Lithuanian egg producer "Lit Egg", plans to invest 180 million euros in a new poultry complex in the Vilkaviškis district. The funds would go toward farm development, egg processing and packaging, as well as biomethane production.

Government support
Both the prime minister and Agriculture Minister Kęstutis Mažeika reportedly pledged at the meeting to address the issue, stressing that investors exist who want to expand primary production. The meeting also discussed ideas for ensuring food supplies in the event of a crisis.
"Balticovo" and biomethane producer "Bovo Gas", which operates on circular agriculture principles, are controlled by the Latvian capital group "Global Champs". This February, the group sold its mushroom business "Baltic Champs" for 8.46 million euros to Lithuania's "Auga Group".
Company figures
In 2025, "Balticovo" reported turnover of 161.5 million euros, up 44.1% year-on-year, while profit doubled to 35.9 million euros. The company, founded in 1992, produces chicken eggs, egg powder, liquid egg mass, and boiled peeled and chopped eggs. Its share capital is 5,370,381 euros, and its largest owner is SIA "BCO", whose shareholders are Tatjana Poplavska, Valdis Grimze and Vladimirs Mhitarjans.
