Data compiled by Latvia's Central Election Commission shows a clear frontrunner among Latvian voters residing in Ukraine during the 15th Saeima parliamentary election.
A clear winner
According to the commission's figures, the United List party received the largest share of votes cast by Latvian citizens in Ukraine, taking in nearly half of all ballots recorded there. This left the party with a substantial lead over every other participating political party.
The scale of the result suggests that voter support among this group was heavily concentrated behind a single party rather than spread across multiple competitors.
Voting abroad
Latvian citizens living outside the country had several ways to take part in the 15th Saeima election, and those based in Ukraine cast their ballots following the applicable procedures for voting abroad. The Central Election Commission compiles and publishes voting results separately for each country, making it possible to track differences in political preferences among Latvian diaspora communities around the world.
Exact figures on how the remaining votes were distributed among other parties, or the total number of voters in Ukraine, have not yet been disclosed. The available data nonetheless confirms that the United List secured a decisive advantage over its rivals among Latvian voters in that country.
