Latvian athletes secure wins in Italian league competitions

Anete Sietiņa and Brenda Džiliana Apsīte triumphed in their events in Modena, while several other Latvians achieved success in the bronze league.

Latvian track and field athletes recorded multiple victories this weekend in Italian league competitions. In the "Argento" (Silver) league held in Modena, representatives from two clubs competed.

For "Athletica Cascina", Anete Sietiņa won the javelin throw with a result of 55.75 meters. Brenda Džiliana Apsīte took first place in the triple jump, achieving her second-best career result – 13.58 meters. In the long jump, she placed fifth (5.73 m). In shot put, Luīze Gaistarde finished third (14.52 m).

The club "Gran Sasso Teramo" was represented by three throwers: Edgars Gailis in hammer (54.38 m – 4th place), Edgars Berķis in shot put (14.85 m), and Markuss Petrovs in javelin (54.39 m).

In the "Bronzo" (Bronze) league in Borgo Valbelluna, eight Latvian athletes competed for "Running Clup Napoli". Winners included Aleksis Gailītis in triple jump (15.14 m), Aleksandrs Volkovs in discus (54.87 m), and Krista Velpa in javelin (44.98 m; she also finished fourth in the 100 m hurdles with 14.78 seconds).

Second places went to Ralfs Zazerskis in the 110 m hurdles (14.46 s) and Alise Robežniece in shot put (13.81 m). Third places were earned by Lauris Lapsas in the 1500 m (3:51.07; also sixth in the 800 m – 1:52.89) and Elīna Gumarova in the 3000 m steeplechase (11:06.64). Dagmāra Midzene placed fifth in high jump (1.65 m).
