Latvian men's beach volleyball team wins CEV Nations Cup

The Latvian men's beach volleyball national team claimed the top spot at the CEV Nations Cup final tournament on Sunday, July 19.

In the final against Norway, the Latvian pairs delivered a commanding performance. First, Edgars Točs and Gustavs Auziņš beat Nils Ringeien and Even Os 2-0 (21:15, 21:15). Then Mārtiņš Pļaviņš and Kristians Fokerots defeated Hendrik Mol and Mathias Berntsen 2-0 (21:12, 21:16), securing a 2-0 overall victory for Latvia.

En route to the final, Latvia defeated the Netherlands 2-0 in the semifinals. Točs/Auziņš won 2-0 (21:18, 21:19) against Tom Sonneville and Quinten Gruneveld, while Pļaviņš/Fokerots triumphed 2-0 (21:17, 21:17) over Stefan Bormans and Alexander Brouwer.

In the group stage on Thursday, the Latvians drew 1-1 with Israel and beat Portugal 2-0. On Friday, they drew 1-1 with Norway. In the quarterfinals on Saturday, after losing the first set, they came back to win the golden set and beat Hungary 2-1.

In the women's tournament, Latvian duos drew 1-1 with the Czech Republic on Thursday and won 2-0 against Norway. On Friday, they drew 1-1 with Italy in the final group match, but lost 1-2 to Slovenia in the quarterfinals.

The Latvian teams qualified for the final tournament during the qualification competition held in Riga in May. The tournament featured eight men's and eight women's national teams. The top three teams will receive prize money of €15,000, €10,000, and €6,500, while the winners also earned an additional quota spot for the 2026 European Championship finals.
