Latvian men's volleyball team beats Norway in European League
Latvia defeated Norway 3-1 in the CEV European League on Friday, continuing their quest for a spot in the European Championship finals.

The Latvian men's national volleyball team won their fifth match in the CEV European League on Friday, defeating Norway 3-1 (21:25, 29:27, 25:18, 25:21) away from home.
Earlier in the tournament, Latvia won against Romania and Kosovo in straight sets during the first round in Riga, but lost to Montenegro and Portugal in the second round in Portugal. Norway had lost matches to the Czech Republic, Hungary, Israel, and Sweden.
Latvia is ranked 47th in the FIVB world rankings, while Norway is 72nd. On Saturday, Latvia will face Switzerland.
The European League also serves as qualification for the 2028 European Championship finals, with each team playing three rounds. The top four teams will advance to the final round. Both Latvian national teams have already secured spots in this year's European Championship finals.
The squad for the match against Norway included players such as Toms Vanags, Jēkabs Dzenis, Gustavs Freimanis, Renārs Pauls Jansons, Kristaps Šmits, Edvīns Skrūders, Kaspars Kronbergs, Aleksejs Formanickis, Eduards Dūdens, Markuss Vensbergs, Armands Rokjāns, Kristers Landzāns, Patriks Pinka, and Artūrs Gulovs.
