Latvia's men's national volleyball team was defeated by Germany 0:3 (20:25, 20:25, 16:25) in a European Championship match held in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, one of the tournament's host cities.

The loss marked the first setback for the squad led by head coach Uģis Krastiņš in this year's competition. Latvia was unable to close the gap with Germany in any of the three sets — the first two ended at 20:25, while Germany pulled further ahead in the third, winning 25:16.

Playoff hopes remain alive

Despite the defeat, Latvia's chances of advancing to the knockout stage are not over. According to LSM, the team's path to the playoffs still lies entirely in its own hands, depending on results in its remaining group matches.

The men's European volleyball championship is currently being held across several countries, with Cluj-Napoca serving as one of the venues. Latvia had performed well in the tournament up to this point, and the loss to Germany was its first stumble.
