Latvia's Medenis: summer break restored his joy for volleyball

Latvia national volleyball team player Janis Medenis went through an eventful season with Bucharest club Dinamo. He started strong, playing regularly and performing well, but later in the season his playing time decreased. Despite this, the club ultimately won the Romanian championship title, making Medenis a champion as well.

A reset over the summer

In an interview with LSM.lv, Medenis said the summer break following the season was important for him to clear his mind and rediscover the joy of playing. After a season marked by both highs and lows, this period of rest helped him find his footing again.

Following the break, Medenis began preparing for the European Championship with renewed energy and motivation. He noted that regaining his enjoyment of the game was an important factor as he readied himself for the tournament.

The European Championship, which he approached with restored enthusiasm, has since concluded. In his conversation with LSM.lv, Medenis looked back both on his difficult club season in Romania and on how he managed to emerge from it in a positive frame of mind, title in hand.
