Latvia volleyball coach Krastiņš: no one's spot at European Championship is guaranteed

Latvia's men's national volleyball team returned to full training on August 3 after a short break, as it prepares for the European Championship set to take place in September.

Currently, 17 players are competing for the 14 spots that will make up the final roster for the tournament. Head coach Uģis Krastiņš, speaking in an interview with Latvian Television, emphasized that competition within the squad is intense and that none of the candidates can consider their place on the team secured.

According to the coach, a spot at the upcoming European Championship is not guaranteed to any of the players currently taking part in the preparation process. Training will continue in the weeks leading up to the tournament, with the final roster to be announced later.

Such strong internal competition is generally seen as a positive factor for the national team's overall performance, as it pushes every player to give their best effort in pursuit of a place in the squad.
