Lauren Bell's composure secures last-ball victory for Southern Brave over MI London
Southern Brave maintained their perfect start in The Hundred women's competition with a dramatic one-run win over MI London on the final ball.
Southern Brave held their nerve to defeat MI London by one run in a thrilling last-ball finish in The Hundred women's competition. With eight runs needed off the final five deliveries, Lauren Bell bowled superbly under pressure, conceding only six runs and denying Danni Wyatt-Hodge the boundary required on the last ball.
Wyatt-Hodge remained unbeaten on 52 from 42 balls, anchoring MI's chase, but she failed to find the gap off Bell's final delivery. Earlier, MI captain Holly Armitage was dismissed for 27, caught behind off Sarah Glenn. Issy Wong and Sophie Molineux applied tight bowling in the middle overs to increase the pressure.
Batting first, Southern Brave posted 126-7, led by Maia Bouchier's brisk 31 off 22 balls and Laura Wolvaardt's 35 off 30. Jemimah Rodrigues contributed 32 off 22 before falling to Hayley Matthews, who finished with 4-22. Matthews also made 32 with the bat. The win keeps Southern Brave top of the table with three wins from three, while MI London remain winless.
