Lauri Tamm wins overall title at "Baltic Chain" cycling race
Estonian cyclist Lauri Tamm won the overall standings of the "Baltic Chain" cycling race despite finishing only 12th on the final stage. Latvian rider Martins Pluto was fastest on the closing stage near Tartu and Polva.
Estonian cyclist Lauri Tamm has won the overall classification of the multi-stage "Baltic Chain" cycling race, Estonian broadcaster's news program "Aktualna kamera" reported.
Although Tamm failed to finish among the top ten riders on the final day of competition, placing only 12th, that result was enough to secure his overall victory across the race's roads through the Baltic states.
Final stage
The race's closing stage took place in the area around Tartu and Polva. The 150-kilometer distance was completed fastest by Latvian cyclist Martins Pluto, who claimed the stage win in a sprint finish.
Best Estonian finisher
Among Estonian riders, Norman Vahtra posted the best result, finishing fourth on the final stage and second in the overall standings. Across all stages combined, Vahtra trailed Tamm by just three seconds.
