Lavrov and Rubio to Meet in Manila; Ukraine Talks Stalled
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Manila on Thursday to discuss the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, as talks on ending the Ukraine conflict remain deadlocked.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced on Wednesday that he will meet with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Manila on Thursday. The meeting will take place on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit. According to Lavrov, the meeting will be useful for asking questions and receiving answers.
US-led talks aimed at ending Russia's war in Ukraine have reached a deadlock, largely due to Washington's current focus on the Middle East. Russia has also shown no willingness to engage in meaningful negotiations.
US President Donald Trump has expressed support for Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian energy facilities, believing that such escalation could help bring the war to an end. These Ukrainian strikes have caused fuel shortages across Russia.
