In matchday five of Italy's Serie A, Lazio defeated Venezia 2:0 on the road, even though the first half painted a very different picture. The hosts were far more active in attack, registering nine shots on target, five of which hit the frame of the goal, plus three corner kicks.

In the 16th minute, Venezia were awarded a penalty after a foul in the visitors' box, but Jon Yeboah failed to beat goalkeeper Christos Mandas, leaving the score level.

Second-half turnaround

After the break, the match swung on a second penalty awarded in the game — this time in Lazio's favor. Goalkeeper Filip Stanković could not reach the ball, and Mattia Zaccagni opened the scoring in the 51st minute.

The visitors doubled their lead in the 60th minute when Tijjani Noslin headed home a cross from the left flank, making it 2:0 — the final result of the match.

Standings

The win gave Lazio their fourth victory in five matches this season. The Rome club currently shares first place in the table with Roma and Inter, all three level on 13 points. Venezia, meanwhile, remain winless after five matches.
