Latvian motorsport rider Andžejs Ļebedevs finished third at round three of the European Speedway Championship, held on Saturday in Rzeszów, Poland.

Out of five qualifying heats, Ļebedevs won two, finished second in one, and placed third in two others. He did not qualify for the final directly, but won a run-off heat alongside Denmark's Leon Madsen to earn his place in the final.

Multiple crashes in the final

The final had to be restarted after a collision between Madsen and Poland's Maciej Janowski. The restart, contested by three riders, also saw a minor crash, forcing a third and final start. In that decisive heat, Poland's Kacper Woryna took the win, followed by Janowski in second, while Ļebedevs finished third. Madsen, who caused the crash in the first attempt at the final, was left without a result.

Overall standings

After three rounds, Woryna leads the overall standings with 34 points, with Madsen level on points in second place. Janowski and Denmark's Mikkel Jepsen-Jensen have each collected 33 points. Ļebedevs has 20 points, placing him tenth overall.

In the season's first round in July, held in Zielona Góra, Ļebedevs finished 12th, while in the second round in Germany in early September he placed 15th. The fourth and final round is scheduled for October 2 in Pardubice, Czech Republic.

Ļebedevs is a two-time European champion, first winning the title in 2017 — becoming the first Latvian speedway rider to do so — and repeating the achievement in 2024. Last year he finished runner-up, with the title going to Poland's Patryk Dudek.
