The Latvian Puppet Theatre officially launched its 83rd season on 4 August. As is tradition, the season opened with a collective gathering of the theatre company, during which attention turned to the people who make the theatre work. Staff members were honoured for their daily contribution, and special recognition was given to those celebrating anniversaries.

Two actresses received particular praise: Baiba Vanaga and Dana Avotiņa-Lāce. Both performers have devoted 20 years to the Latvian Puppet Theatre, making the season opening an occasion to mark their professional journey. Those present showed their appreciation with applause and gratitude for the actresses’ contribution to the art of puppetry.

Audiences can look forward to a rich line-up in the new season, with nine new productions planned. The programme will include performances aimed at the youngest spectators as well as at young people. There will also be shows dedicated to Christmas, helping to create a festive atmosphere.

The new productions will be developed by directors who are well known in Latvia, as well as by guest artists from abroad. This collaboration brings together local theatrical tradition and international experience, promising a diverse season ahead.
