Exhibition of 18 new paintings marks artist Leo Preiss's 80th birthday

The Latvian Artists' Union gallery has opened an exhibition titled "Construction of Infinity," dedicated to artist Leo Preiss's 80th birthday. The show presents a new cycle of 18 paintings.

The exhibition's title reflects the artist's long-standing interest in geometric forms and spatial order, a hallmark of Preiss's body of work. The artist himself has described his approach to art as a search for spatial order and rhythm.

Speaking about the exhibition, Preiss noted that for him art is a dialogue between the visible and the invisible, between concrete form and infinite possibilities. This idea is echoed in the exhibition's title, which brings together two seemingly opposing concepts — infinity and construction — that are closely intertwined in his work.

A new chapter in his work

The exhibition offers viewers a look at the latest stage in Preiss's artistic development, where geometric shapes and repeating rhythms continue to form a visual language rooted in the interplay between order and infinity. The completion of this 18-painting cycle shows that even after turning 80, Preiss continues to actively create new work while remaining true to the artistic concept he has pursued for decades.
